Meet the Heart Behind Cape of Abilities

Hi, I'm Vettania Clark,
I'm an educator, speaker, and advocate with more than two decades of experience supporting neurodivergent children and their families. But long before I became a teacher, I was the child who learned differently.
Growing up, I struggled with reading and often felt like I didn't quite fit in. At the time, those experiences were frustrating. Looking back now, I realize they became some of my greatest gifts. They taught me empathy, patience, and the importance of seeing beyond what someone struggles with to recognize who they truly are.
Early in my teaching career, I focused on helping students overcome their challenges. Over time, my students transformed the way I thought about disability. They taught me that when we only focus on what a child can't do, we often miss the incredible strengths they already possess.
That realization changed not only the way I teach, but also the way I live.
Today, my mission is to help parents reframe how they see their child, redefine what's possible, and reimagine a future built on strengths, connection, and hope. A diagnosis may explain some of a child's challenges, but it should never define who they are or what they are capable of becoming.
As both an educator and the mother of a neurodivergent child, I understand this journey from more than one perspective. I've experienced the questions, the uncertainty, the advocacy, and the joy that comes from celebrating progress—no matter how small. I know what it feels like to want the very best for your child while trying to navigate unfamiliar territory.
That's why I created Cape of Abilities.
Through workshops, my podcast, my book, and conversations with families, my goal is to help parents replace fear with understanding, confidence, and possibility. Because when we change the way we see our children, we also change the opportunities we create for them.
I'd be honored to be part of your journey.
Together, we can celebrate every step forward.
